uk mosque No. 1 Traditional Cache

This cache is temporarily unavailable.

Royal Oak: Hi

I notice that this cache appears to have been unavailable for some time now. Would the owner please check this cache and carry out the necessary maintenance or give an indication of when it may be sorted out. Otherwise it should be archived. If there is no response (eg cache checked and an Owner Maintenance Log, note on the cache page or an email direct to me) after 20 days I may archive the cache, in the meantime I am disabling it.

If maintenance is not possible at the present time, please put a note on the cache and it will not be archived. If you do nothing it may be archived.

Guidelines: "As the cache owner, you are also responsible for physically checking your cache periodically, and especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.). You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to hunt for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable time - normally a few weeks - in which to arrange a visit to your cache. In the event that a cache is not being properly maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an extended period of time, we may archive the listing."

If you wish to email me please send your email via my profile (click on my name) and quote the cache name and number.

Many thanks,

Regards

Geocache Description:

small, no pencil. tweezers may be needed

William Henry Quilliam (10 April 1856 Liverpool – 23 April 1932 London), who changed his name to Abdullah Quilliam and later Henri Marcel Leon or Haroun Mustapha Leon, was a 19th century convert from Christianity to Islam noted for founding England's first Mosque and Islamic centre. This was based at No. 8 Brougham Terrace, Kensington, Liverpool. Unfortunately after the charismatic leader left lthe mosque and the country, his followers left and the Mosque fell into disrepair. Liverpool council currently have plans to refurbish this building to acknowledge its unique past

The Mosque is next door to West Derby Union Buildings which later became Brougham Terrace Registry office at which, amongst others, Richard Starkey Aka Ringo Starr was married.

There is also nearby, the remains, of a very grand drinking fountain about which I have been unable to find any information and would be grateful for any information cachers may have about this fountain.

There is parking in a side road alongside Brougham Terrace and there is a very active garage nearby so please take care while looking for the cache
