Geocache Description:

A visit to this cache will walk you down to one of the smaller cove beaches on the beautiful Isle of Gigha. There is some rocky terrain to traverse and the steep inclines could be tricky for anyone with mobility problems or toddlers. Bikes can be taken and left on the beach a short distance to the cache location.

Welcome to the beautiful Isle of Gigha - also known as 'God's Island'. From this cache location you will get a fantastic view of Ardminish Bay and if you are lucky enough you may even spot a couple of seals, porpoise or maybe even an otter or two! Gigha has an amazing history, more recently the Islanders, worried about the changes in ownership of the island, came together and purchased the island for themselves. The islands affairs are run by a board of trustees made up of those living on the island. There is a strong community spirit here with many community activities such as a wonderful music festival, a raft race and many other events. There are many historical features on the island as well as a number of myths and legends which makes a visit to Gigha interesting for those who enjoy tales of vikings, fairies, pirates and smugglers! If travelling by car, park in the car park opposite the Gigha Hotel. Take a left out of the car park and walk a short distance down to the path on the left marked 'Rudha Chinn Mhoir Beach'. Follow the path down to the small sandy cove. To the right by the slip there is a small path that leads up to a viewpoint. Take care as this can be slippy in the wet weather. The cache is located somewhere near the viewpoint. It is a small transparent clip top box. Enjoy! This is my favourite place on Gigha.
