Hitchin has a great many paths which means that you can travel round much of the town without ever going on a road. Some years ago there was a route which did just this (although with some latitude allowing travel on thoroughfares that were not named 'Road'. This little path conects Dale Close and London Road, about 100 yards in total, between two gardens, and with a dog leg about half way along it. Unless you are really 'local' you would be unlikely to find this unaided as it is well hidden at both ends, but it is a useful short cut. Being a magnetic cache, it needs some metal, and there is plenty here forming fences both sides of the path. The cache contains only the log, and a pair of tweezers would be useful to extract it. Parking is best in Dale Close as London Road is busy, although people do park there, a bit further up the road towards the roundabout. The path is solid and therefore accessible to wheelchairs and buggies, and the cache is retrievable by wheelchair users. Despite being an 'unknown' path it is well used, so look out for muggles. In placing this cache I had some difficulty with the coordinates due to tree cover - it is definitely on the path and not in a garden!
