Railways have always held a fascination ! The Alfriston Siding alongside the road between Bulwer and Underberg, at 1654m above sea level, must be one of the highest in KwaZulu-Natal. The railway line is not used much these days, just a couple of times a year by the odd timber train and the Eshayamoya Express from Creighton on its way to and from Underberg. Such a waste of an asset. On a clear day the twin peaks of the Giants Cup can be seen to the west and the amazing vista of the Drakensberg stretching from one horizon to the other.
