31 Days of Geocaching
Groundspeak is promoting the "31 Days of Geocaching" throughout the month of August, 2013. Each geocacher who logs a "found" or "attended" during the month of August will receive a special souvenir on his/her geocaching profile. For more information regarding the promotion, please check out this link.
In honor of this promotion, I am placing some new geocaches. Hopefully it will assist in getting some of the local cachers out and about.
This is a simple 2-stage multi located on the Bobby Jones biking/walking trail. The listed coordinates are for Stage #1. Please note that parking is limited at this location!
Once you have parked, proceed to stage 1. Be sure to stay on the sidewalk, and not in the road. Traffic is very light on this road, but still do not want anyone getting hurt! Note the year the bridge was built. It is etched into the bridge itself. Subtract 1029 from the year to fill in the North coordinates (xxx). Subtract 1195 from the year to get the West coordinates (yyy).
The final is located at : N33° 30.xxx W81° 55.yyy
The final is a preform tube.
Congratulations to SCGeoNinja on the FTF!!
A few items to note about the Palmetto Parkway trail:
- The path is paved, but there are some pretty significant hills.
- The path is only open to walkers and bicycles.
- There are only a few shady spots; however, in the early mornings and late evenings there is additional shade.
- Lastly, even though there are a good many geocaches on the pathway, it is not designed as a power trail. Majority of the caches were placed to provide a unique experience at each GZ. Therefore, some of the caches can take a little while to find.
