Geocache Description:

Lihallen Kulturgård er et privateid kunst- og seminarsted som ligger 101 meter over bygda Sigerfjord i Sortland kommune i Nordland.


Lihallen culture house is a privately owned art- and seminar centre situated 101 meters above the town Sigerfjord in the municipality of Sortland in Nordland.

Lihallen er et tidligere tuberkulosehjem som ble bygget i perioden 1911-1914. Sanatoriet ble lagt ned i 1956.

Cachen ligger ved siden av veien på tur opp til Lihallen, like ved en liten bru som går over en bekk i nærheten. Da Hindø Dampskipsselskap ble utsatt for bombing under krigen, sier lokalhistorikere at denne brua ble brukt som skjulested for både pasienter og leger ved tuberkulosehjemmet. Heldigvis var bombingen upresis og førte ikke til nevneverdig skade.
Tett ved kan man også ta av på stien som går opp til fjellet "Galten".
Selve boksen er en vanlig plastboks med logg og blyant.

Boksen har fiskens merke.

Lihallen is an old tuberculosis sanatorium, built in the period 1911-1914. The sanatorium was closed down in 1956.

The cache is located by the road leading up to Lihallen, close to a bridge over a small brook. When Hindø Steam Ship Company was targeted by German bombers during the war, it is said that doctors and patients alike took refuge under this bridge. Luckily the bombing run was not very precise and no major damage was reported.
Close by you will also find the trail you can follow if you wish to hike up to the top of the mountain "Galten".
The container is a small plastic box with log and a pencil.

You will know the box by the mark of The Fish.
