Geocache Description:

Nara Visa is located in the northeast corner of Quan County and adjacent to what used to be the large XIT Ranch in Texas.  Named after a sheepherder, Narvis, who lived on the Nara Visa Creek in the late 1800s, Nara Visa was founded in 1901 when the CRI & P Railroad line was built.  Originally, it was a water and cattle shipping stop.

This cache is dedicated to the homesteaders, ranchers and workers who developed this area.  Two such pioneers bured here are Howard and his wife Sara French.  Howard ranched while maintaining fences and windmills for the XIT Ranch.  This couple were charter members of the New Mexico Barbed Wire Association, helping start this organization and supported the ones in Oklahoma and Texas.

We solicite your support as a volunteer cacher to place a "Spirit" cache at or near a cemetery of your choosing.
