Founded in September 1565, St. Augustine Florida is the nation's oldest city. The city's location was first sighted on August 28, 1565 by Don Pedro Menendez de Aviles of Spain. Since that was the feast day of St. Augustine of Hippo, the territory was named after him.
Anyway ... Being so old and rich in history, St. Augustine is a very popular tourist destination, attracting over 5 million visitors annually ... And most of these tourists buy souvenirs!
I've decided to hide a series of geocaches to commemorate the great economic benefits and prosperity these souvenir shops bring to Florida. This series is not intended to have anything whatsoever to do with any planned Groundspeak promotions, and any similarity to such promotions is purely coincidental.
Coconut Heads
Everyone loves coconut heads!! They're ugly, and they collect dust better than most shelf denizens. When on vacation, buy several of these, just to give to those people who say "What did you bring me?" when you come home. Chances are, they'll never ask you that question again.
Have a great trip and don't forget to take pictures!
