This entry way used to go in to an area referred to as Tent City, where the summer cannery workers pitched their tents on platforms built by the city. After a few years it became kind of a sore spot with the locals due to all the trouble, drugs, blue tarps, etc. Really turned in to a mess. After sitting unused for years the local Humane Society stepped up has now turned this in to a useable dog park, hence the name.
