Geocache Description:

A cache to help bring people to enjoy the popular spots in Yarmouth and placed with kind permission from the Harbour Master as he thinks that it will bring more people to the area.

A quick cache that should be fairly easy to find. This cache is on the end of Yarmouth pier, popular with fisherman and tourists so beware of muggles. You are looking for quite a small container that is magnetic. It contains a logbook but no pen so bring your own. Also, it may have room for the odd small gift or tb/geocoin. There is a 30p toll charge at the pier entrance which you are expected to pay and help maintain the pier for future generations, but you don't have to. (I now believe this has gone up to 50p). The pier was built in 1876 as a deep water terminal for the London and South Western Railway company paddle steamers. Since 1951 the pier has been used by excursion boats, anglers and promenaders. In 1984 the pier walkway was rebuilt with the pier head been completed in 1994. Further work to renew 54 piles along the walkway was carried out in 2008 assisted by a major donation from the Heritage Lottery Fund. There are 553 planks in the walkway and a further 70 planks on the pier head, all of which have been sponsored. Names of further sponsors are given on the plaque on the piler roundhouse. This is the last remaining all-wooden pier on the British Isles. Please pay the 30p toll requested at the entrance to the pier to help maintain it for future generations. Beware of Muggles! Bring a pen or pencil.
