How do you measure time? Seems simple enough right? Well the answer to that is “it depends!” As told to me by my professor while pursuing my master’s degree.
Some people might measure time in hours, minutes and seconds, while others might measure time by days, weeks and months. And others might even measure time by seasons. I would have to say that the way we measure time seems to have some correlation to our age. When I was younger, pre–school days, I would measure time as when the next time I was going to see my grandparents, or when my birthday was coming or the next holiday! Everything seemed to take forever. When I was school age, I would measure time by school days and school breaks like, “how long till Christmas break?” or “how long till summer?” or “oh no, summer is over school starts soon!” As I hit those teen years I measured time by what days I had to work or when I would be able to hang out with friends. College years were measures by semesters, or midterms and then of course by how long till the “big” day! Then there was the carefree days, I like to call them BC (before children) days, I didn’t seem to keep track of time, just went with the flow, worked, hung out, and went places. Once AC (after children) hit, I measured time by my kids” baby is 6 months old” or the baby is walking, or when did they turn 16, 18, 21 or get married!! Then comes OHC time (out of the house children) and I measure time by how much time you take up waiting in line or doing something you really don’t want to do. Or you watch people who seem to know how to work time down till there is no time left. I guess as I get older time seems to go faster, marches right on by and you sit and wonder what happened to all that time you had! Of course there are still times when you wish you had more time in your day as you try to squeeze in everything possible. Now one could also think about time as events, like geocaching , there is always time to find one cache! So take some time and look around. This cache will require a special geo tool! And I am sure everyone will have one of these tools or at least access to one. There is a ftf prize attached; only room for a log so bring a pen or pencil and hey don’t forget to take time to ponder and reflect! Oh and think about how you measure time! So till the next time, happy caching!
