Driving home from an appointment in the Salina, KS, area, I remembered that tonight was to be the night of a BLUE MOON.
The term BLUE MOON is usually used to describe a 2nd FULL MOON in a single solar calendar month, which happens every 2-3 years. For a blue moon to occur, the first of the full moons must appear at or near the beginning of the month so that the second will fall within the same month (the average span between two moons is 29.5 days).
The use of the term BLUE MOON to describe the 2nd full moon in 1 calendar month results from a misinterpretation of the traditional definition of that term in an article of the March 1946 issue of SKY & TELESCOPE.
Beforehand, the term was used to describe the 3rd FULL MOON in a season with 4.
Owing to the rarity of a BLUE MOON, the term "Blue Moon" is used to describe a rare event, as in the phrase, "once in a blue moon".
The term actually has nothing to do with the color of the moon, the moon DOES NOT turn BLUE. A literal Blue Moon ( the moon appearing with a tinge of blue) may occur in certain atmospheric conditions such as volcanic eruptions and exceptionally large fires. These events can leave particles in the atmosphere which, when seen in certain light, the human eye interpretation of what it sees, and so on can make it look like the moon is actually BLUE!!
Anyway, enough of the stuff. There used to be a cache placed somewhere at this location once before, but was archived for whatever reason.
Remember that this is a cemetery and please respect any/all rules/regulations that may be posted and that we have all read on other page write-up's concerning these types of locations.
You will be searching for a too well camouflaged PILL BOTTLE with secondary container inside dangling.
UPDATE: November 24, 2013: Visited site and original container had somehow become missing. Replaced with a new container. Same coordinates/hints/clues/etc.
UPDATE: January 31, 2019 - Replaced container with a more waterproof type container.
UPDATE: May 02, 2021 - Do to alterations at the original hiding spot where the Jesus monument is located, decided to re-position this cache. Should be easier to find.
