Pinkery 05 – Wood Barrow |
Wood Barrow is a Bronze Age barrow standing 480m above sea level at a point where the Tarka Trail turns east, just to the west of Pinkery Pond, and to the north of Broad Mead. This is a large round barrow which is still in a good condition, although it is usual as it has been dug into from the top, there is a very marsh and boggy remains of a ditch running around the outside, with remains of other, lesser barrows are nearby. Bog asphodel grows nearby the barrow. |
