Geocache Description:

One of many planes and jets on display around CFB Borden, which has a long history in military aviation training.

Please remember you will be on a military base so respect all laws and regulations, and by entering the base, you agree to allow your vehicle and possesions to be searched by the authorities.

Designed by Grumman, and built under contract in Canada by DeHavilland Ltd., the Tracker was Canada’s first multi-role aircraft.  Flying with the Royal Canadian Navy Squadrons aboard the carrier HMCS Bonaventure, the Tracker had the capability to search out and destroy submarines with torpedoes or depth charges.  The Wright Cyclone engines gave the Tracker a patrol speed of 140 mph (225 km/h), a ceiling of 12,000 ft (3,658 m) and a range of 1,000 mi (1,609 km).

Delivery into Canadian Naval service began in 1957 and was retired from service in 1990.
