Expect an easy and scenic hike along a well-trod trail that climbs gently all the way to its western end. The trail passes through a wilderness area and so offers no facilities or drinking water along the way. Do note trail restrictions posted at trailheads. Expect a day-parking fee at the campground.

Azalea Glen Road offers a delightful wilderness experience. It passes for the most part through a forest area that was burned completely during the devastating Cedar Fire of October 2003, but now shows signs of an unusual recovery. The mid-section of the trail is dominated by Ceanothus thickets that have spread throughout burned areas, threatening all other growth including reforestation seedlings. Toward the western end of the trail one can enjoy a rich stand of fern and a few remarkably beautiful Blue Spruce trees.
