Please excuse the pun in the title but it refers to the location of this cache at Kips Crag just above the Scout Hut in Menstrie where there is ample parking. It is a nice viewpoint and if you are a climber you can have a few minutes pleasure playing on the crag.
I have enjoyed being FTF on a few occasions but also gained lots of pleasure by bringing to life neglected caches. This Challenge cache is about rejuvenating caches that have not been visited for a while. I call them forgotten caches.
In order to log a find on this Challenge cache you have to provide evidence that you have visited a live cache (NOT archived) that hasn't been logged for at least 1 year.
1. To complete the challenge you could just trawl your history and find a forgotten cache that fits the requirement and this would qualify to meet this Challenge. Within the rules of Geocaching I can not insist that you go out and rejuvenate a forgotten cache that is new to you but I would particularly welcome such postings because - remember we are keeping the game alive.
2. You must include in your log of this cache the details of the forgotten cache that you visited - GC ref & date of your rejuvenating log please.
3. You don't need to get permission to log this cache from me - just go ahead and do it when you have completed the Challenge. I believe cachers to be honest but I will check posts to ensure that the rule & spirit of this endeavour is being respected.
4. You may come across DNFs because the cache has deteriorated or been lost or you just failed to find it - these are not eligible to claim this cache but please record a DNF as this lets the owner know it may need maintenance so by logging a DNF we have contributed to its upkeep and this is a positive outcome for the caching community.
I truly hope that this idea leads to some great caches possibly in more remote locations getting a bit of TLC and that their owners are reminded of the pleasure that placing them provides. Get out there and Keep the Game Alive!
So Claxons are FTF then nirikina & Landsbanki get out and rejuvenate a cache to claim it - and its only a few hours old! At this rate we really are keeping GCing alive & kicking.
