You seek a small camo'd container that will require great stealth to retrieve - part of a small series about how North Carolina seems to work its way into about every really big news story.
If you think about it and look deep enough, every really big, world-changing, break-into-regular-programming news story seems to somehow always involve the state of North Carolina somehow. (Florida, too, but that's another cache series.) Take, for instance, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the so-called "mastermind of 9/11" attended college - in North Carolina. Attempted Reagan assasin John Hinckley was found fit to have a trial - after being evaluated - in North Carolina. The manufacturer of the guns that were used in the massacres at Columbine and Sandy Hook is headquartered - in North Carolina.....
On November 9, 2012, Four star general and CIA Director David Petraeus shocked the nation and made international headlines when he abruptly resigned after it was revealed that he was having an extra-marital affair with his biographer, Paula Broadwell. Broadwell, whose house is less than a quarter of a mile from this cache site, lives in the upscale Charlotte suburb of Dilworth.
In August of 2008, John Edwards, a former United States (US) Senator from North Carolina, US, and a Democratic Party presidential candidate, admitted to an extramarital affair. The National Enquirer cited claims, from an anonymous source, that Edwards had engaged in an affair with Rielle Hunter, a filmmaker hired to work for his presidential campaign, with a child produced from the relationship. ABC News reported that Andrew Young, a member of Edwards' campaign team, stated that Edwards asked him to "Get a doctor to fake the DNA results ... and to steal a diaper from the baby so he could secretly do a DNA test to find out if this [was] indeed his child."
The allegations, initially published in late-2007, were denied by both Edwards and Hunter. Young claimed paternity of Hunter's daughter, although no father is listed on the child's birth certificate, and Young has subsequently denied it. On January 21, 2010, Edwards issued a statement admitting that he was the father of the child in question. During the fallout from the affair, Edwards purchased Ms. Hunter a house here in Dilworth, less than a half a mile from this cache site.
The news website, The Daily Beast, noting that Broadwell's home is only a few blocks from the house that Edwards had purchased for the woman with whom he was having an affair, dubbed this upscale Charlotte suburb of Dillworth "Mistressville".
