Geocache Description:

While in Green Bay for Packers training camp in the summer of 2013, I came across a rather unique cache I haven't seen before. Since that cache was the inspiration for this cache, I feel the need to educate you on their team - the amazing Green Bay Packers.

The Green Bay Packers have won four Super Bowls as of the published date of this cache.

The Pack won the first two Super Bowls (1966, 1967) ever played, but back then the Super Bowl was 'simply' referred to as the AFL-NFL World Championship Game. In fact, the Super Bowl Trophy, better known as the Lombardi Trophy, was named after Head Coach Vince Lombardi. Before the introduction of the official Super Bowl game, the Green Bay Packers had won 9 NFL Championships, making the team 13 time world champions, an NFL record. The Super Bowl I win came against the Kansas City Chiefs in a 35-10 victory. The following year, the Pack repeated their earlier conquest in a 33-14 over the Oakland Raiders. Both Super Bowl wins were led by quarterback Bart Starr (#15) who played for the Green Bay Packers from 1956-1971; later he would find less success as head coach for the same organization.

Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers, has been sold out since 1960, despite quite the dry spell for the team in the 1970s and 1980s. In fact, if you sign your grandchildren up for season tickets when they are born, they MIGHT receive them before THEIR great grandchildren are born. Frenzy for tickets to home games only increased in the 1990s as Brett Favre (#4) entered the mix under the tutelage of Head Coach Mike Holmgren. Beating the New England Patriots 35-21 in Super Bowl XXXI (1996), the Packers began to see a major upswing in their performance.

Brett Favre's departure from the Green Bay Packers allowed current franchise quarterback Aaron Rodgers (#12) to shine under the lights of Lambeau and Head Coach Mike McCarthy. He led the team to their fourth win in Super Bowl XLV against the Pittsburgh Steelers (2010) and was named league MVP.

The Green Bay Packers are a storied franchise that no doubt will have many more championships to add to their records in future years. And as always... Go Pack Go!
