This geocache is placed for the Old Route 66 Festival held in Joplin,. It is anticipated that many folks, including geocachers, will be coming to Joplin on Rt. 66. Therefore caches like this one, are being placed along the old Mother road.
This small magnetic cache is placed in a rather uninteresting spot near where Highway 171 joins Old 66. Not far to the east is the attractive Rt. 66 Drive-In which undoubtedly is one of the most attractive of its kind that remains today. I couldn't find a place to put a cache at that location, so this location will at least bring you close. I'm pretty sure there used to be a cache here. I'm glad I could place a new cache here to bring you past a great relic of Mother Road days that is still used today. If you visit this cache some evening, you might take in a movie and really experience Old Rt. 66.
