The cache has been placed to coincide with the 31 Days of Geocaching Challenge in August 2013. The Geocaching HQ challenge is to find at least one geocache on each day in August to obtain a unique souvenir.
The challenge has obviously been masterminded in the Northern Hemisphere, where August means summer and holidays for many, so maintaining a streak is a relatively easy task. However, southern cachers can encounter freezing temperatures, cold rain, ice and snow this time of the year. Additionally, those who spend most of the daylight hours inside may have little desire to go out into the cold and dark - so let's have an incentive to keep caching!
Please note that this challenge cache is not limited to August 2013. Any streak of 31 or more consecutive days achieved now, in the past or in the future counts, and you can find the cache and claim a smiley when you have achieved a streak of 31. So should winter strike with force again and interrupt your efforts, you can just start again later. All you need to do is post a screen shot of your stats showing 31 or more consecutive days with finds, or a list of qualifying finds with gc code, cache name and date found - one per day for 31 days in a row is all you need. While you may find the cache at any time, you may only log after you have completed the requirement of 31 consecutive days of caching.
The cache is placed in a public reserve, but please exercise stealth to avoid unnecessarily attracting the neighbours' interest. Make sure you tuck the container back in so that it lasts a while.
