You will see Woodthorpe Hall Farm on the main Bolsover Rd, this was previously the site of Woodthorpe Hall which was the home of the de Rhodes family. When the family moved to Barlborough they sold the hall to Bess of Hardwick in 1600, she demolished the hall and used the stone to rebuild Bolsover Castle.
