Maunaloa, Molokai
Molokai is one of our favorite islands to hop to when we need a short vacation from the bustle of life on Oahu. On each of our visits, we chose to stay in the small town of Maunaloa and we have not ever regretted it.
On one visit, while grabbing a cache at Papohaku Beach near Maunaloa, we were personally invited by a newly married bride and groom to join them at their reception on the beach. They insisted that we stay and join them for dinner since they had enough food to feed half the island! Even though we knew no one there, we were amazed at how kind everyone was and they all talked to us as if we were long-time friends. We have many similar stories of our encounters with the residents of Molokai and we cannot say enough about their generosity and hospitality!
On your travels to Molokai, we hope that you take the time to drive out to this end of the island to experience the beauty, hospitality, (and caches!) that it has to offer.
A bit about the town:
Maunaloa is a small plantation village set in the hills above the coast and it is the only town in the West End of Molokai. Papohaku Beach and Kapukahehu Beach (also known as Dixie Maru Beach) are popular beaches on this end of the island to swim, stroll along in the sand, or find geocaches! Take the time to stop and check out the unique shops and galleries when passing through Maunaloa and you’ll be sure to walk away with a smile!

Cache is available Monday through Saturday 8:30am - 5:00pm, Sunday 10:00am - 2:00pm.
summer hours: M-F 10:00 - 4:00 and Sunday 10:00 - 2:00

There is a local cache guardian who will assist.
