Geocache Description:

A cache on the public footpath which runs from Woodseaves to the canalside woodland by the Shropshire Union and then to Loynton Moss or Grubb Street. If you follow the footpath to the canal, you will not be on the same side as the towpath, the footpath follows a high path, quite a way from the canal itself, through woodland to either of the nearest canal bridges.

This point used to be enclosed, you would climb over one stile, and the bridge was between them, surrounded by very tall hedges on each side and trees above, and then to leave you would exit by the other stile. I find it a shame that it is no longer like this, I used to find it quite fun as a child. But that was years ago.

The pit from which the cache takes its name is not far away, to the north west, viewable on OS maps.

This cache can be done as part of a walk, along with other nearby caches in the area.

Please bring a pen or pencil..
