Cache Your Way 2013 #1 Snapper Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

McHenry County Conservation District: The Ranger for the park reported today finding the lid to the container for one of our caches there but she could not find the rest of the container. Was unsure which cache had gone missing but based on the DNF that just popped in, I am going to assume it is this one that has gone missing! :-( I do not have time to replace this one as we are gearing up for the next program with 15 new ones and I am unable to personally maintain all of them.

Geocache Description:

This cache was placed by the McHenry County Conservation District as part of the Cache Your Way Across McHenry County program.  You do not need to be part of the program to seek this cache! Participants were given the coordinates in advance of posting to geocaching.com.  Participants were e-mailed the coordinates and then I immediately began posting to geocaching.com so there was some advanced notice but not a lot.

Placed in The Hollows Conservation Area, this cache is along a less traveled trail!  You are looking for a clear sized container. Ticks are not a problem in this section of the park as you are in a wooded area the whole time. Mosquitos, however, were kind of bad. They are fine when you are moving but got mildly annoying when I stopped to place it.

Snapping turtles have "fierce" dispositions; however, when encountered in the water, they usually slip quietly away from any disturbance. Snapping turtles have evolved the ability to snap .  Why has this turtle developed the ability to snap?

Permission must be obtained from the Conservation District prior to placing a cache on District property.  Call 815-338-6223 or visit www.mccdistrict.org/web/re-geocache.htm for more information on geocaching or to obtain more information about the program.
