Geocache Description:

This cache was placed as part of the McHenry County Conservation District for the Cache Your Way Across McHenry County program.  The cache remains for your geocaching enjoyment!p>

Located in the newly opened Boone Creek Conservation, this is a regular clear plastic container.  The view is FANTASTIC from the new shelter though so be sure to check it out while you are there!

Unlike other mush turtles, the Common Musk Turtle does not tolerate brackish water.  They prefer slow moving or still water.  They seem to defy gravity by climbing up near 90 degree angles branches.  With surprising strength and a fierce grip, they will hold their hefty bodies well above water.  When are you most likely to find these turtles?

Permission must be obtained from the Conservation District prior to placing a cache on District property.  Call 815-338-6223 or visit www.mccdistrict.org/web/re-geocache.htm for more information on geocaching or to obtain more information about the program.
