Come help clean up and clear paths on Big Island. Yes, this was the site of the Annual Winter Campout! The island needs our help and we can give it.
Make a day of it or join us for the weekend! Big Island is a jewel sitting in Annabessacook Lake in the Winthrop/Monmouth area. The owner keeps it open for the public and works with schools using educational programs.

You can make a weekend of this or attend the event. Snownut's cabin (fire ring, running lake water, electricity, outhouse) is only a half mile boat ride to the island and there is plenty of room to pitch tents. We are also invited to spend the weekend on the island (outhouse, gazebo, fire rings, rope swing). Weather and enthusiasm will determine where we stay.
1) Bring chain saws & protective gear, hoes, rakes, clippers, work gloves, etc., if you can. Use at your own risk.
2) We'll provide snacks for lunch.
3) Dogs are allowed.
4) There is no drinking water on the island or at Snownut's cabin. We will bring some, but you might want to bring your own.
5) Transportation can be provided for those who do not have the means to make it to the island. We can also shuttle gear.
6) Kayak and canoe rentals are available at the 1BSI parking lot. Let us know if you wish to rent.
6) Paddling gear and swim wear will add to the fun!
