The Grasshopper Sparrow is another of the birds that habitate the Legacy Nature Preserve.

.
A fairly nondescript, small brown bird, the Grasshopper Sparrow has a short tail and a flat head and is often found hiding in larger patches of grassland, usually with few shrubs or trees, in the United States east of the Rocky Mountains and adjacent portions of southern Canada. To consume a grasshopper, a Grasshopper Sparrow will first pierce the thorax to cause paralysis and then systematically remove the legs in sequence. Spends a lot of time hiding in the grass. Look for a plain buffy chest, a yellow-orange spot in front of the eye, and a white line on top of the head.
You can walk, drive or bike to this cache. You can access the trail from 500 South and Legacy Highway for bikeing or hiking, or Center Street in North Salt Lake City for vehicle access. Enjoy your trip.
CONGRATULATIONS to peakbagginggeo for FTF. I'm replacing the container and location for both waterproofing and environmental reasons. The new cache is quart sized and in a 4" pipe with a cedar lid. There is room for small TB's and some trading items.
