We have lived here for a long time and very close to this location and I never knew this tiny triangle of Morman history was here. There is a large monument that tells an abbreviated story of this trek that started in Ohio and ended very near here. It has the headstones for A. S. Gilbert and some family members. He was a local farmer who helped the Mormons when they fled from Jackson County. The area has a couple of small benches and there is a gate where you can walk in and read the monument. Please make sure the gate is latched securely when you leave. For more information see the related web page at the top of the page.
I would strongly discourage night caching here. Even though this is not on private property there is a residence nearby.
