Friday night crackerbarrel at Wellman's Meadow with the Caesar Creek Lake Army Corp of Engineers and the Miami Valley Geocachers!
Friday September 27th 7:30 PM - 8:00 PM at the Wellmans Meadow Area Shelter.
Please feel free to bring a snack to share with the group.
We will be discussing Geocaching at Caesar Creek State Park and the diversity of wildlife that you may encounter while out on the trails or lake. Other topics may include Leave No Trace and CITO.
Following the event - those that are so inclined can join us for a group night hike and cache and maybe a sample of some of the wildlife diversity in the park.
In conjunction with our geocaching event the Corp of Engineers will be hosting their annual Bioblitz event. Here is a little more information on that aspect of the happenings: BioBlitz!
Friday - Saturday, September 27 & 28, 4 pm - 4 pm. National Public Lands Day is the nation’s largest hands-on volunteer effort to improve and enhance the public lands Americans enjoy. Join us for the 15th annual National Public Lands Day as we try to organize the natural history talents of local scientists, naturalists, and the general public to document the biodiversity present at Caesar Creek Lake.
Come out for the Ranger-led Programs like: fish shocking, herp hunting, night-time insect collection, early morning owling, bird banding, creek walking, butterfly catching, fall native plant and mushroom hikes, and the great seed collection of native wildflower seed for replanting in restored prairies throughout the park. Anyone who registers and returns their field data sheet is eligible to receive an official National Public Lands Day Certificate of Participation as well as volunteer service hours with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Free tent camping is also available for the evening. For more information or to register call the Visitor Center, 513-897-1050.
