Summer is once upon us again. When I think of summer I think of grilling and BBQ. This cache is dedicated to our family’s sauce. It’s not just a BBQ sauce; it is much more than that. We don’t sell this sauce and I cannot give out the recipe, it is a family secret.
We call the sauce F.O.A.D. We call it that because of an inspirational quote from my grandmother. She would always say this when things were bad. “Found on another dead-end”. Yeah, I don’t know how it is supposed to inspire either but she always said it inspired her. Grandma was a little off her rocker. Ok, the doctors said she was just plain crazy but she sure knew how to make great sauce.
The basic F.O.A.D. sauce recipe has been in our family since before emigrating from Germany back in the 1850’s. Every generation has tweaked the recipe in their own way but we all still know and love the original.
Yep, that’s right folks, this sauce is dirty! We don’t just tickle the ribs with F.O.A.D., we slop it on. The more sauce the better, is what we say. If you’re one of those whiny crybabies that don’t like to get dirty, then this sauce is not for you! The sauce will get everywhere. I’ve even found sauce on my couch.
