This cache is actually placed near the Three Sisters Creek, and from this locaton you will see some of the evidence of damage done during the June 2013 flood event. In fact, just downstream is where the Three Sisters Creek just about took out the Three Sisters Parkway. Thanks to brave heavy equipment operators working in the creek bed, the sole remaining road connection between Canmore and points east was saved.
This cache was inspired by similar ones we've done in the past. Mr. GeoK incorporated a few design changes which we hope will reduce the frustration factor compared to other versions we've done.
The outer container holds two other containers - one tool plus the actual cache container. The lid for the outer container should be used in conjunction with the tool to retrieve the actual cache container. NOTE: about a half turn of the lid should be more than adequate. There's no need to tighten it all the way.
When you've signed the logsheet and made note of the information printed at the top of the page, please put the cache container into the outer container before unfastening the lid for the outer container (this will actually make sense when you're at the cache site). Then return the tool. And finally put the lid on the outer container - again, there's no need to tighten it all the way... a half turn is plenty.
The actual cache container contains a logsheet, cache note, pencil and FTF pin. There is room for small items.
This area may be icy and slippery in the winter, but since the rocks can be unstable, please use caution regardless of the time of year.
NOTE: This area is frequented by wildlife, including elk, deer and occasionally coyotes, bears and/or cougars. Please be WILDSMART - make lots of noise while riding and carry bear spray.
