This cache is located in St. Louis Park's Rotary Northside Park. Street parking is available off of Nevada Ave., or the lot at the intersection of Nevada and West 22nd St. Observe park rules, hours, and ordinances.
***Congrats to Onthehunt250 for a very quick FTF!***
17 August 2013 Update: I forgot to initially include this, but it could be important for future finders. Please do not attempt to fully "close" the container (you'll see what I mean when you find it). The material it is made of is very difficult to open once it has been wrenched down too tightly. Please just snug it down enough to keep water out. Doesn't need to be Superman tight. Thanks and enjoy!!
This cache pays homage to my favorite sport-- Baseball!!
The container really has nothing to do with baseball, but it's location will give you a good angle to see the whole field!
Speaking of perspectives, you won't be able to "field" this one like you would a ground ball, nor should you have to make a big leap at the fence to get at it.
Isn't it fun to watch your home team send a homer sailing over the fence? Nothing quite like it!
This great park was renovated in the summer of 2011, and the dedication ceremony took place last May (2012). The dedication of this park was also in conjunction with the opening of the brand-new SLPFD Station #2, which you can see up on the hill at the southeast corner of the park.
Even T.C. the Bear (the MN Twins mascot) was on hand to welcome everyone and say hello at the dedication ceremony! It boasts 3 beautiful new fields, batting cages, electronic scoreboards, and even two tennis courts. A playground for the little ones is available if you need an excuse. ;) Ice skating is offered in the winter as well.
This park can get very busy during the summer months with muggle activity of all sorts. Best avoided during a baseball game or with heavy muggle traffic.
If you've got the eye for it, this cache could be a quick P&G. Cache is micro. No climbing anything required or necessary. Reliving old glory days on the outfield grass won't be necessary to find what you're after.
BYOP, no room for swag. Log only. Please do your best to get log back into container in a neat fashion.
Sorry, no FTF prize awaiting anyone due to size of cache...but you do get bragging rights, which are always awesome, right?!
The log can be a bit tricky to get out. Tweezers help, but they are not necessary. Please be gentle with it!
Please replace as found, and practice CITO should there be any loose trash in the area. There is a runoff pond nearby and when it dries up, a lot of debris likes to blow around the park.
Happy caching!
