Flowers for South Africa … and probably beyond … is what you’ll find at the Flower market, just south of Johannesburg. This 50 000 sq m, roofed, specialized flower auction space sees some 300 million flower stems a year pass through its doors. This translates into an astounding 1 million flower stems a day in just three to four hours, with between 300 and 900 trolleys passing the four auction clocks every day. With business picking up, the fourth Multiflora clock was added on July 6, 2011. From 5am each morning The wholesalers' section of the flower mall is aimed at florists and flower agents, through the auction system, the freshest flowers in South Africa, is sold directly from the growers or agents.
