Another of our favourite walks
This geocache is hidden in the ruins of what was once a lookout point in the Castle Caldwell estate. The story goes that this folly was used for afternoon tea by the Lord and Lady of the castle. The servants would bring everything from the castle two miles away.
There are a few paths leading to the folly and your GPS will probably take you on the most direct, but the nicest is to follow the 4km forest walk marked with the black arrows. This will take you along the lake shore around the peninsula passing the ruins of the castle and the lime kiln.
To get to Castle Caldwell Forest from Belleek, take the A47 towards Kesh. Continue on this road for approximately 4km. The entrance for Castle Caldwell Forest Park is marked by a large wooden sign. Pass the old railway walls. Turn left and continue onwards until you reach the car park
The cache is a small clear sandwich box which when hidden contained a log book, pen and a Ballyshannon to Ballyintra rail ticket.
The trees around the folly make a decent GPS signal difficult, but the box should be visible from the right angle
