Hofterups Byastuga ligger i en del av det som tidigare var Hofterups skola.
Skolan byggdes 1895. På 1920-talet hade skolan cirka 100 elever. På 1950-talet hade antalet sjunkit till cirka 20 elever.
Undervisningen bedrevs i en småskola (Byastugan) med årskurs 1-2 och en storskola med årskurs 3-7 där alla årskullarna läste tillsammans (De numera vita byggnaderna bakom Byastugan).
Läraren bodde i en inredd lägenhet i storskolan och småskollärarinnan bodde i det som numera är Byastugans kök.
1955 lades skolan ner och Löddeköpinge Kommun erbjöd den del som var småskola till de boende i Hofterup att användas när de behöver en lokal för fester, föreningsmöten och andra aktiviteter. Även idag används Byastugan flitigt av Hofterupsbor och andra.
Föreningen Hofterups Byastuga bildades då av de boende i Hofterup med omnejd för att ideellt förvalta den gamla småskolan som fick namnet Hofterups Byastuga.
Föreningen startade ett omfattande ombyggnadsarbete och den 26 maj 1956 invigdes Hofterups Byastuga med föredrag, vin, smörgåsar, kaffe och tårta.

Hofterups Byastuga is located in a part of Hofterup’s old school.
The school was built in 1895. In the 1920´s there were about 100 pupils but it diminished in number to about 20 in the 1950´s. The school consisted of two parts. One for small children (that is now Hofterups Byastuga) and one for kids up to about 13 years old (The nowadays white houses behind Byastugan)
The teacher lived in an apartment in the school for older pupils and the small kids’ female teacher lived in the room that now is the kitchen in Byastugan.
1955 the school was closed and the Community of Löddeköpinge offered the inhabitants of Hofterup to take over the part for small children. The purpose should be a locality for partys, society meetings and other activities. And so it still is.
The non-profit association Hofterups Byastuga was formed 1956 with the purpose of taking care of the building that was named Hofterups Byastuga.
The society started a far-reaching rebuilding and 26 maj 1956 Byastugan was inaugurated with talk, wine, smorgasbord, coffee and cake.
