Efter krigen i 1864 mistede Danmark hertugdømmerne Slesvig og Holsten. Grænsen gik nu tværs igennem Hejls Nor langs med Kær Mølleå, ved bl. a. Fjællebro, som ligger lige nord for Skovhusevej.
