In many TV dramas in Hong Kong, you can see a special circular footbridge. This footbridge is at Yee Wo Street, Causeway Bay. However, not many people know that there is a “Anecodotes Gallery” on the footbridge.
The “Anecodotes Gallery” is adorned with a collection of old photos of Wan Chai etched on bronze plates. These century-old photos (1842-1952) are very precious. Among them are the bird’s eye view of the turn-of-the-century Wan Chai Praya, and major landmarks of the days suchs as the Happy Valley Race Course, Water Service Tank in Bowen Road, and Guard House in Wong Nai Chung Gap Road. Also exhibited are the earliest places of worship Lin Ka Kung Temple and Hung Shing Temple. Tai Hang Polo Ground and Sailors & Soldiers Home both of which no longer exist, and Bowrington Canal in its original form resembling a goose’s neck.
This cache invites you to take a leisurely stroll along this gallery, sample the cultural heritage and landscapes of Wan Chai and retrace its valuable past. Enjoy!
Note1: GPS is super jumpy. The cache is a nano cache on the footbridge. Please refer to the hint.
Note2: Not recommended to find this cache on Sunday, due to many maid muggles.
