Historically before the reconstruction and extension works, Westall Road ran as a semi-major road from just south of the Dandenong Rail line at Westall Station to Heatherton Road, and as a minor road from the railway line to Centre Road. The previous thoroughfare consisted of taking McNaughton Road, Kombi Road and Rayhur Street. The Westall Road Extension; north to Princes Highway and south to Springvale Road, were designed to reduce traffic which travels through Springvale via Springvale Road.
... Westall Road continues as a semi-freeway standard road along the reservation of the Dingley Freeway with a speed limit of 100 km/h. It continues as the Dandenong Bypass at Springvale Road and further east to Cranbourne and Gippsland.
------------------------------
Unlike it's more popular cousins (Eastlink, Frankston Freeway and even the Dandenong Bypass) the Westall Road Extension did not (yet) have a series of caches to highlight this important arterial road.
This is cache located just off the bike and walking path that travels adjacent to the WREx's 100 km/hr zone. Do not attempt to park on the side of the WREx close to this cache, suggested parking (south) at the sports-ground, or (north) in Coomoora Rd then cross at the traffic lights, and walk to the cache.
Cache is a typically hidden traditional small/medium size.
