V prvi svetovni vojni je bil Mrzli vrh ena ključnih točk v avstro-ogrski obrambi tolminskega mostišča in najbolj krvavo bojišče v Zgornjem Posočju. Muzej na prostem je urejen na vršnem severnem in zahodnem delu gore na območju planin Pretovč in Lapoč. Ogled italijanskih položajev se začne po stezi, ki vodi na planino Lapoč, nad katero so italijanski vojaki zvrtali številne kaverne. Po ogledu utrjenega položaja na koti 1158 oznake vodijo na južni rob in nato po povezovalnem jarku proti vzhodu navzgor do bojišča, kjer so bili nasprotniki v jarkih med seboj oddaljeni manj kot 20 metrov. Od tu vodi kratek dostop po jarkih na vrh gore, na višino 1359 m. Ob avtro-ogrskih obrambnih jarkih se pot spusti do razsežnih kavern. V najvzhodnejši je oltar, ki so ga zgradili madžarski vojaki.
Urejena krožna pot po muzeju na prostem začne pri planini Pretovč. Za obisk kavern ne pozabite na svetilko.
Dostop: Do muzeja na prostem Mrzli vrh je moč priti iz več smeri (zemljevid). Najlažji dostop je iz vasi Krn (Hribi.Net - 1h 30 min), lahko pa pot začnemo na planini Polog pod Javorco (tam lahko poiščete tudi zaklad GC3MCMB) (Hribi.Net - 2h 45 min) ali pa še nižje v vasi Zatolmin (2h 30 min).
Zaklad je majhna Lock & Lock škatlica z začetno vsebino: beležka, pisalo (prosim ne odnesi) ter par malenkosti za izmenjavo.
Mrzli vrh was one of the key positions in the defense of the Tolmin bridgehead of Austro-Hungarian troops and one of the bloodiest battlefields of the Upper Soča Region. The outdoor museum is located on ridge of the northern and western part of the mountain, in the region of Pretovč and Lapoč mountain pastures. The tour of the Italian positions begins at the path leading to the Lapoč pasture, above which the Italians drilled numerous caverns. After reaching the fortified position at height 1158, the markings lead to the southern edge of the pasture and then east and upwards through the linking trench and to the battlefield, where the opposing sides were entrenched no more than 20 meters from each other. A short path leads from here, along the trenches, to the 1359 meters high mountain top. The path then descends to extensive caverns along Austro-Hungarian trenches. There is an altar in the east-most of caverns, built by Hungarian soldiers.
The arranged circular path thorough the outdoor museum begins at pasture Pretovč. For cavern exploration you need a flashlight.
Access: It is possible to reach the outdoor museum at Mt. Mrzli vrh from several directions (map). The easiest access runs from the village Krn (1h 30min), but you can also start at pasture Polog under Javorca (2h 45min) (where you can find treasure GC3MCMB) or even lower at the village Zatolmin (2h 30min).
