Geocache Description:

This is now a micro. A series of fourteen caches (including a bonus cache).  The walk is approximately 3.5 miles on designated footpaths of varying terrain with short stretches of road walking in Low and High Bradfield.

PLEASE NOTE - mobile phone signals are very poor or non-existent round Bradfield.

CACHING IS MURDER – THE CRIME

Following a report of a serious incident, Inspector Dimm has been called to a Geocaching Event being held in Low Bradfield to celebrate International Geocaching Day 2013.  He arrives to find that the Reviewer, Itsezear, has been found seriously injured.  An ambulance has been called, but upon arrival, the paramedics declare Itsezear dead and Inspector Dimm’s “serious incident” is now a murder enquiry.

He asks the event organisers for a list of attending cachers and is given the event log book.  He requests that everyone give him details of their whereabouts at the time Itsezear was discovered, however many of those attending are out completing the new cache series and he may have to wait two or three hours for them all to return.

Interviewing the few who are still at the event location, Inspector Dimm soon has a list of nine possible suspects, but no-one can tell him where the mortally-injured reviewer was discovered.  He has also received a phone call stating that a preliminary examination of the body has been inconclusive as to the type of weapon used.

Inspector Dimm realises that the only way he can solve this murder is to ask you to help him with his investigations.  Can you discover the murderer, where the murder took place and how the crime was committed, ie the weapon used?    To do this, you must visit each of the twelve Clue caches in the series, Caching is Murder, as each holds information that will enable you to eliminate suspects, weapons and locations.

To help you with your investigations, print the attachment, Evidence Notes, and bring it with you.

The co-ordinates for “Whodunit”, where you will make the arrest, are N53 25.ABC, W001 36.XYZ.

It will be useful to have the following essential caching and detection equipment:

Strong shoes, tweezers, pen and paper (if no Evidence Notes), lid flipper/remover, nettle protectors (seasonal).  A magnifying glass and pipe are NOT required, but may add to the fun.

Unfortunately, the series is not suitable for bicycles, buggies or wheelchairs. Nettles and thistles are a seasonal problem, particularly between Clues 3 and 4. Please keep dogs on a lead around livestock, and particularly up the path between Clues 5 and 6, which passes farm livestock barns.  Caches vary in size and difficulty.  Please replace all caches as found.  Please let me know ASAP if any caches or clues are missing.

NOTE:  If you have not printed out the Evidence Notes, you will have to make a note of the evidence you find in the clue caches, then, by a process of elimination, you will find the co-ordinates.  To help you – there are nine suspects, nine weapons and nine locations.  There is no zero.

Disclaimer:  All characters represented in this scenario are a figment of the imagination of the CO and any similarity to members of the caching community, whether active or retired, is purely co-incidental.
