This cache is located near the ghost town of Sims and is part of a series of caches I placed today.
Sims was once a prosperous community. Some sources claim that 1200+ people lived here at one time in the 1800s. The surrounding clay, coal, and water made it an ideal location. But don't take my word for it. Check out http://www.sims-almont.us/ and especially http://www.sims-almont.us/publications/almont75years/08%20Sims%20and%20Curlew%20Pages%20133-138.pdf. Here you will find an early years map along with an abundance of other information. The cache is located near the Scandanavian Lutheran Church. The church, adjoining parsonage and one other building are the only remains of Sims. The house still standing is known as the Gray House and was built over 100 years ago and is noted several times in the above webpages. Sims is part of the Old Red Trail and the nearby signs have phone numbers to dial for further information as well. It is all very interesting. I hope you enjoy.
