This is the site of where the US Starship G-O-Cache was launched to the mars. This starship made regular trips to mars starting in the early 1970's and continued up until the mid 1980's.
Ok, well part of the above statement is true. This is on the site of the old Duvall Airport. This was one of those small community airports, it was built in the early 1970's and operated though the mid 1980's. At the time the airport was built, it was surrounded by farm land. It was public use airport with 2500 foot paved runway. Closed sometime in the mid -1980's for the sunset housing development, which was in the planning stage since 1979.
For as recently as it operated, it is surprising how little information is available about this spot. When you arrive at GZ, you will notice that there is a very small, but long strip of land, on one edge of the land is the road, which was there when the airport was. On the other side is the housing development, this little strip of land is all that is left from airport. I wonder if anyone living in the housing development is aware of what once was here?
If anyone has some information about the Old Duvall Airport please send me note, I'd love to add it to the description.
