Geocache Description:

Hieman erilainen, "toiminnallinen" kätkö Leppävaaran kaivoskalliolla. :) Kaunis paikka ja hienot näköalat, mutta niin kuin moni muu vastaava paikka, on sekin lähes pilattu roskaamalla! Saa siis olla varovainen etenkin kallion laella kävellessään, sillä esim. lasinsirpaleita on paikka paikoin. Huolehditaanhan yhdessä arvokkaasta ympäristöstämme ja yhteisestä viihtyvyydestä, eikä roskata!

Valtakunnallisesti arvokkaaseen Lintuvaara–Monikko-kallioalueeseen kuuluvalle Kaivoskalliolle pääsee helposti kohdetta ympäröiviltä ulkoiluteiltä pieniä polkuja pitkin. Laelta näkee jalkapallokentän ja peltojen yli Turuntielle saakka, josta kallio erottuu myös hyvin. Kilon kaivokset sijaitsevat Leppävaaran urheilupuistossa, Gruvberget-nimisellä kukkulalla. Gruvbergetin eteläpäässä on vanhan kaivostoiminnan jälkinä kaivoskuiluja ja hylkykiveä.

This is a little different ”functional” cache. :) Located in the old Leppävaara Rock Mine called Gruvberget. The place is beautiful and has a nice view. But like the other similar places it’s almost spoiled by littering! So please be careful when walking up the hill! There are pieces of glass here and there, for example. Let’s take care of our valuable environment and do not litter! Gruvberget Ironstone Mine in Leppävaara is a part of the invaluable Lintuvaara-Monikko-rock area. The hill can be approached easily from different directions and paths. You can see over the football field and the cornfields till the ”Turuntie”, from where the hill can be seen as well. The Leppävaara Mine Rock is located near the sports park. On the south of the hill there are some mine shafts and waste rock from the time past 1800s when the mine was still working.
