Geocache Description:

St Andrew's Church Boxford is a grade 2 listed building on the banks of the River Lambourn. The nave and chancel are built of flint which can now be seen thanks to the recent removal of the Victorian concrete rendering. The tower was rebuilt of brick in 1692 following the collapse of the original tower in 1657.

The most remarkable feature of the church however was uncovered in 2010. It is a Saxon timber window in the north wall of the chancel. It is one of only a handful of Saxon windows in the country and it is claimed to be the oldest working window in Britain. If you wish to see it then stand at N51 26.525 W001 23.066. It measures 2 feet by 1 foot and it is the only window in that wall of the chancel.

There is parking on the street next to the Lych Gate. The published coordinates take you to a point beneath the west tower where you can see the sundial high up on the tower. The sundial was installed in 2000, but what other numbers are engraved on it? From left to right call them A, B and C.

Now make your way in to the seat by the River Lambourn in the Peace Garden at N51 26.540 W001 23.078. The seat is in loving memory of three people. The number of letters in each of their names in the same order as they are carved on the seat are D, E and F.

The cache is a 15 ml tube and can be found at:

N51 26.DC(B-E)
