Geocache Description:

Cache is located at the start of the 4200+ acre Great Pond Mountain Conservation Trust's WILDLANDS, in the town of Orland. They have kindly given me permission to place a geocache on the property so enjoy and please follow the guidelines if you decide to explore this remarkable spot. The South Gate entrance to Valley Road is located just off US Route 1 with plenty of parking available throughout all seasons.

Cache is located within the parking area of the South Gate entrance to Valley Road within the Great Pond Mountain Conservation Wildlands where you will find many trails to explore, a location that can be enjoyed at all times of the year. We often walk our Great Dane on this road and especially enjoy snow shoeing here during the winter months. You will discover several bird houses strategically placed throughout the Wildlands. Chances are good you will spot a Rabbit or a Fox, plenty of Porcupines or maybe a wayward Moose!  Bring your Headlamp and enjoy a full moon hike up Great Pond Mountain or discover the famous Esker Path, Drumlin Path, Mead Mountain Trail and my personal favorite, Hillside Trail - all located along the very well maintained Valley Road. After finding the nano be sure to stop at the kiosk just beyond the gate, grab a map and explore. You can even seek out and find other Geocaches hidden throughout the Wildlands including "I'm Fond of Great Pond", "Planes, Trains and Automobiles", and of course "Main Road Load."Not winter friendly
