McKenzie Lake Traditional Cache

This cache and it’s contents are intended to be oriented towards the Hiker / Camper enthusiast.

It is located in Strathcona Provincial Park, beside McKenzie Lake, approximately midway on the trail from Mt. Washington to the old Forbidden Plateau Ski Lodge.

There are also two other caches located nearby - GC4484K and GC4J3AH.

McKenzie Lake Campsite

I have rated the Terrain Difficulty as 4 only because of the relatively long hike involved. (Approx 15 km from Mt. Washington or 10 km if coming from the old Forbidden Plateau Ski Lodge.)

First go to the McKenzie Lake campsite at N 49°40.937’, W 125° 15.888’. (See picture above.)
This is a good place to camp overnight, usually with good fishing, if you want to make it a 2 day trip.
There are also other good campsites on both Douglas and McKenzie Lakes.

From Campsite co-ords, follow a trail SW out of the campsite approx 50 yds to the cache.

Cache is in a 7” x 10” x 4” Cammo’d Ammo Can.
