Det berättas att jorden, innan människan kom att ta den i besittning, befolkades av jättar. En av dem råkade skapa Gotland genom att kasta en handfull jord ut i havet. Hålet där han tagit jorden vattenfylldes och blev Vänern. Jätten tog ännu en handfull jord men orkade inte slunga iväg den lika långt, så kastet nådde bara strax utanför den småländska kusten. Så blev Öland till. Och i hålet efter jorden bildades Vättern.
I dessa kvarter kryllar det av sagofigurer. Såväl troll och älvor som drakar, jättar, vättar, huldror och bergakungar kan hittas i gatunamnen i Ludvigsdal. Gömman finns i en korsning där två av dessa övernaturliga väsen möts, men i nära anslutning till en mycket modernare pjäs.

It is said that the earth, before man came to take possession of it, was populated by giants. One of them happened to create the island Gotland by throwing a handful of soil into the sea. The hole where he took it was flooded and became lake Vänern. The giant took another handful of soil, but could not throw it as far this time, so it landed just off the coast of Småland, and became the island Öland. And this hole formed lake Vättern.
This neighborhood in Västervik is full of fairytale characters. Both trolls and elves, dragons, giants, goblins, sirens and Berga kings can be found in the street names of Ludvigsdal (in Swedish). The cache is hidden at an intersection where two of these supernatural beings meet, but in close proximity to a much more modern piece.
