Geocache Description:

This cache will bring you to the Birdseye Multi-Use Trail System in the beautiful Hoosier National Forest.

Like the Phoenix, some caches seem to rise from the dead. This cache was actually hidden way back in 2006 by jadeskyline. After only six finds, it was mysteriously archived by the owner in 2009. Click on the “Related Web Page” link above to see the original cache listing. NOTE: I took a new waypoint at the site to get the coordinates listed on this page, but you can check the coords on the old page, too, as they may be more accurate for some units.

On a recent hiking trip, we made a stop along the trail and Mags noticed an interesting tree a few yards off the trail. She went to check it out and uncovered this old cache. We checked out the log book and contents. Everything was dry and in good shape. So we claimed a find on it and decided to put it back and get it relisted, so others could find it, too.

As for the cache itself, it’s an old concrete test tube hidden in a typical fashion. You shouldn’t have any trouble with it, and it’s only a few yards off the trail, so not much bushwhacking to do. Enjoy this beautiful part of the Hoosier National Forest and an old cache that lives to see another day!
