This cache will bring you to the Birdseye Multi-Use Trail in the beautiful Hoosier National Forest. I wouldn’t recommend doing this one at night, as it’s in an area with large rocks and some sheer drop-offs. In fact, if you blindly follow your GPS to this one, it’ll take you right to the edge of a steep drop. You may want to backtrack a bit and find an easier way to get down from the ridge that the trail sits on.
As you hike toward this one, give some thought to what lies below your feet. When you get down from the ridge and in amongst the boulders, you’ll find this rock ledge that forms a natural shelter. My boxer, Ca$hew, thinks it’s a perfect spot to take a break from hiking. Spend some time examining the layers of exposed rock, as well as some of the other cool rocks in this area.
You will be searching for a matchstick container, and it’ll help if you’re at least six feet tall. Otherwise, you might need to find a smaller version of the large objects around you to stand on to grab this one. Please be safe in this area and take it slow. There are easier ways down if you backtrack a ways. Have fun!
