Description:
http://www.gumborocommunitycenter.com/index.html states:

Gumboro is a long established farming community situated about two miles north of Delaware's southern boundary with Maryland and about midway between the Atlantic Ocean and the western border between Maryland and Delaware. It is approximately eight miles from the nearest incorporated towns. Gumboro is an old community, having been established in the 1830's and 1840's. One of the most historic structures in the community is the former Gumboro School, an attractive brick building (shown above) dating from the 1920s. The building has been updated with a modern kitchen and dining room addition. When it was learned...that The Indian River School District had declared the building surplus, an effort was started to obtain the property, restore the building, and use it to serve the community.

The Gumboro Community Association was formed May 22, 1998 and started renovating the building in September 1998 after the building was officially deeded to the Gumboro Fire Company, Inc. and a 99 year lease was given to the Association.
